A CNC router is a machine that is very similar to a handheld router used for cutting various materials. This type of CNC machine can aid in cutting wood, aluminum, composites, plastic, and foam.

The CNC machine processes a piece of material to meet specifications from a digital software file without a manual operator directly controlling the machining operation. The ability to program a computing device to control machine tools advances shop productivity by automating labour-intensive processes.

Automatic cuts improve the speed and accuracy of a finished project or prototype, reducing waste and increasing productivity by producing various items in a much shorter amount of time.
